Scent List

Scents about love and equality

Love is Adventurous: The scent of rustic, romantic outdoor exploits. A bold blend of rainy Northwestern woods with juicy mango, ripe bergamot, aged leather, fir needles on damp earth, spruce bark, and ambery incense. A fruity, woody, robust atmospheric with hints of conifer.

Love is Legal: The essence of our beloved late fathers: distinguished gentlemen who were early adopters of legalized interracial marriage. Warm caramel melted over golden tobacco, glorious cypriol, Moroccan cardamom, French vanilla, Turbinado sugar crystals, Atlas cedarwood, rich toffee, Tonka bean, and dark spiced rum. A caramelized gourmand with a grandpa-core tobacco twist.

Love is Rainbows: The joyful quintessence of being exactly who you are. A bright, multicolored opening of juicy guava, pineapple, lemon, passion fruit and rhubarb leads to a heart of drenched green vines and a base of velvety forest mosses and amber resin. A cheerful fruit scent with mossy, dewy accents.

Love is Soft: Decadent mornings in a posh hotel suite with your lover. A kiss of silvery iris, gentle ivory musk, Egyptian cotton sheets, tiny violets, salty, sexy Ambroxan, and a whiff of pastries on a gleaming silver room service cart. An elegant iris-laced skin scent with pastry hints.

Love is Sweet: The traditionally romantic Valentine aromas of dark chocolate-covered cherries, plump Mexican vanilla beans, milk chocolate, silk lingerie, and candied rose petals. A chocolatey gourmand with cherry and a dash of rose.

Muse: Delicate, crisp lemon cookies, tart yuzu, velvet blankets, wild-harvested fir tips, warm stones in an ancient forest, sweet coconut water, and wild juniper.

Sugar: (Reformulated) An ode to affectionate nicknames. French vanilla ice cream, sweet cardamom, a tincture of Pacific sea salt, dark Tahitian vanilla, and wild harvested pine sap.

Touch: Golden honey on warm skin, soft brown leather, a baby lambswool sweater, floating layers of sheer silk, grey musk, and lightly smoked sap-frosted woods.

Twilight of the Gods

Fenris: The ancient Norse feared the cataclysmic day foretold in prophecy when this massive wolf breaks free of his chains and kills Odin, the All Father. A classic amber accord (labdanum resin, benzoin resin, and sweet, rich Mexican vanilla) is enhanced with molten gold, carnal notes, mild cardamom, and a silken lupine fur accord. An animalic amber.

Perfumer's Notes: If you are familiar with i Profumi di Firenze's Ambra del Nepal (or Folx Magic's dupe, Wicked Amber), this is somewhat in the same wheelhouse. The difference? Fenris is more carnal, more intense, and more beast-like. Fenris uses the same soft, gentle labdanum found in Puck rather than the intense labdanum found in our (currently unavailable) Nott.

SOLD OUT. Fimbulvetr: Ragnarok is preceded by a mighty and merciless winter. For three years, the earth freezes and snow falls from all directions. Frozen pistachio, sugar-encrusted vanilla beans, velvety, honeyed iris, and a bit of frigid peppermint. A nutty, vanilla gourmand with snowy nuances.

SOLD OUT. Hati: One who hates. Hati forever pursues the moon god Mani through the heavens. As a prelude to Ragnarok, he murders Mani, turning the sky blood red. An opening of lunar sandalwood and pale lemon leads to a heart of Bourbon vanilla, soft angora fur, coconut milk, Ambroxan, and dry orris root. A milky sandalwood with citrus notes.

SOLD OUT. Hlin: This gentle goddess of protection, comfort, and plenty was Frigg's best friend. The Voluspa states that Hlin will grieve and ultimately fall at the end of the world. Her essence is the scent of biscuits, fresh and warm from the oven, then slathered in churned butter. A savory gourmand.

Perfumer's Notes: Hlin uses a different and more subtle butter CO2 extract than the one we used in Her Fawn. Due to the butter CO2, this scent is vegetarian (and, as with all of our offerings ever, cruelty free) but is not vegan.

Jörmungandr: One of Loki's terrible children, the vast Midgard Serpent encompasses the earth, biting his own tail. When Jörmungandr releases his tail and rises from the watery depths, Earth's final battle commences. Fjord water, salty Cetalox, rich brown leather, wild-harvested seaweed, frozen Neroli blossoms, and smoky birch tar. A leathery, aquatic atmospheric.

Perfumer's Notes: Jörmungandr uses the same leather accord which can be found in John Dee.

SOLD OUT. Sköll: A fierce wolf who continually chases the sun through the sky. One ominous day before the Twilight of the Gods, Sköll finally catches and ruthlessly devours his prey, then the earth shakes, the mountains fall, and the stars vanish. Jasmine Grandiflorum with green figs, canid fur, sunflowers, and a solar accord. A fresh green floral with solar notes.

Yggdrasil: After ceaseless gnawing, Níðhöggr the dragon will at last chew through the roots of this massive tree which has held the nine worlds together for all eternity. Then Yggdrasil will shudder and tremble, signaling the beginning of the end. Sacred incense, dark woods, Timbersilk, citrusy frankincense tears, wild-harvested fir branches, black spruce, smoky amber, and heartwood cedar. A woody incense-laced atmospheric.

Our best. The creme de la creme of Arcana Wildcraft.

Gráinne Mhaol: The Dark Lady of Doona was a fierce, rebellious, passionate seafarer. An opening of cold apples and wild harvested seaweed gives way to a heart of deep Irish cedarwood, damp incense, a coniferous forest of wild yew and pine, billowing salt-encrusted sails, sheer Ambroxan, white clover blossoms, and a bit of brown musk. A coniferous, woody aquatic with a cold apple accord.

Holy Terror: There are utterly somber and fearsome spirits which are known to haunt certain long-deserted chapels, monasteries, and abbeys. An unsettling, austere blend of burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh, and dusty beeswax candles.

Jeunesse Dorée: The luxe, opulent beauty of nonpareil jasmine sambac absolute, golden Italian bergamot zest, plump vanilla pods, sugary Peru Balsam, soft Clearwood, and a single drop of French cognac.

Moth-Like Stars: Creamy white amber, elegant cashmere, soft silk voile, salty Ambroxan, and diaphanous musk. A sheer, airy, yet concentrated and complex skin scent with a close, intimate sillage.

Nectar: The deepest longing for sunshine, long warm days, and peace in our time. Ripe, plump blackberries and creme de cassis with sheer, summery georgette, cold swirls of vanilla ice cream, a tuft of tender lambswool, and a field of softly blooming sunflowers on a nearby hillside.

Nimue: Also known as La Dame du Lac, she is the eternal fae who ensorcelled Merlin and escorted King Arthur's death barge to the magical realm of Avalon. Ethereal Tahitian vanilla, rich Réunion Island vanilla, pink guava, white chocolate, soft jasmine grandiflorum, pillowy pink musk, raindrops shimmering on blue water, a sliver of Mysore sandalwood, and a hint of Gallic cognac. A delicate flourmand with bright fruitiness and plenty of vanilla.

Puck: rich amber accord (labdanum, benzoin, and sweet Tahitian vanilla) is warmed with velvety plum, ripe fig, layers of incense, cedar resin, incantations on old parchment, and soft woods.  A resinous amber with plum nuances and a long vanillic drydown.

Perfumer's Notes: If you tried Nott from our Hel's Belles collection, Puck uses a softer, gentler labdanum than Nott. However, Puck is the more animalic of the two scents.

Queen Mab: She is the fairies’ midwife, and she comes
In shape no bigger than an agate stone
On the forefinger of an alderman,
Drawn with a team of little atomi
Over men’s noses as they lie asleep. (William Shakespeare, Romeo & Juliet)
The mysterious queen of the fae realm is whimsical, provocative, and full of dark powers. Intoxicating orange blossoms with marshmallow pillows, narcotic petitgrain, creamy coconut milk, wild harvested bitter orange, Tahitian vanilla, and feathery ylang ylang petals.

Sagittarius: This famous archery loving centaur was identified in the night sky in the 2nd century by Ptolemy. A rich blend of warm woods, benzoin resin, sacred incense, bittersweet Peruvian chocolate, dark amber, cedarwood shards, and black Mexican vanilla. A woody, resinous atmospheric with plenty of dark chocolate and incense.

Perfumer's Notes: To me, this scent embodies the deepness within all the Sagittarian lightness (eg: running around on their horse hooves). This is the scent of a wise old centaur crossed with eternal youthfulness.

Titania V.2: Summer storms and cotton candy with a mischievous, feminine array of heart notes: spruce tips, pink pepper, forest mosses, Tahitian vanilla, and morning dew. A sweet gourmand with salty Ambroxan and pink pepper nuances.
Perfumer's Notes: This is the new Titania. You can tell them apart because V.2 has the date (2023) on the back of the label.

Antediluvians are our old scents. Some have retired to this section long term, while others are in the process of being discontinued. Scents being discontinued state that in the individual listings. No samples will be offered for Antediluvians.

Bonfires at Dusk: Woodsmoke, sweet beeswax, Oregon lavender, sandalwood, charred juniper, and the scent of swiftly appearing stars.

Filthy Viking: Between the sea voyages and the pillaging, it must have been difficult for Odin's henchmen to stay fresh. Too bad they didn't have this ferocious blend of scents from the Viking world: bracing Norwegian juniper, frigid Icelandic mint, and the hardy wood of a longship.

Lughnasadh: An ode to the ancient god Lugh, Celtic mermaids, and the element of water. The scent of fresh water, white coconut, moonlight reflected on the ocean, smooth amber, seaweed absolute, rain-drenched juniper tips, and a drop of ruby red grapefruit. (Formerly known as Lammas)

Mad Monk: Some considered Grigori Rasputin to be a depraved charlatan, while others believed he was a mystic with magical powers, but no one could forget his haunting gaze. Golden amber resin, Siberian fir needle, Arcana’s Holy Terror (burning frankincense, sandalwood, deep myrrh, and dusty beeswax candles), coarse brown bread, and warm fur.

Tess: A pure woman, faithfully presented. (Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Urbervilles) Rustic violets, fresh cream, amber, vanilla bean, and soft, milky musk. **TO BE DISCONTINUED. WE ARE SELLING TESS ONLY UNTIL OUR CURRENT STOCK IS SOLD OUT.**

Two Finger Ballet: A delicate blend of French vanilla creme, white amber, sugared vanilla beans, caramel, and the smallest dab of opium.
