gullveig starts off as bitter, dark coffee swirled with those aforementioned resins. it’s not a straight black coffee scent, the resins add an extra layer of depth to an already multifaceted scent. it reminds me quite a lot of another resinous black coffee scent: midnight eye by solstice scents (Dark Coffee, Cigar Leaf, Cacao, Carob, Tonka, Labdanum, Aged Patchouli, Fossilized Amber, Cigar Ash, Oud) except i like gullveig a lot more. it doesn’t singe my nose nearly as much (or at all) like midnight eye does. on drydown, gullveig is a serious morpher. i never had a perfume change so much during the wear time. the coffee and resins recede a lot, becoming a mere memory and the vanilla ice cream and lambswool comes out full force! seriously, it turns from rich bitter coffee to smooth and creamy vanilla ice cream, it’s an absolutely magical olfactory experience!
This starts with a strong hit of coffee, more bean than brewed. Coffee notes never seem to last long (on my skin chemistry) and this one also steps back allowing the softer amber/vanilla to show itself.
It's coffee heavy but in a good way. I hate coffee. Like, if i could name five things i hate, coffee is at least two of them. It's sweet smelling and sticks around.
This blend is sooooo nice. I ordered a large bottle after the first sniff of the sample.
Wow! This was the first sample I reached for when my order arrived. It starts with coffee and omg it is AMAZING. Within 20 to 30 minutes or so, coffee had taken an exit and I was getting a mix of spices that kept reminding me of the idea of an ancient library. Then, somehow, I was left with ice cream which lingered all through the night and was still present the next morning. The ice cream is like a sweet hug close to the skin. I really like it. I feel like my mind is making a affogato. That coffee opening was so incredible that I have the urge to reapply even now just to have some more.

The coffee and vanilla shines bright in this fragrance. It reminds me of the coffee shop my dad would take me to as a kid to buy coffee beans. I got the EDP version, and it projected strong. The next day I could still smell it on the shirt I wore the previous day.
